Tips for Preparing for Your Removal

At Woodbridge Removals, we want your move to be as stress-free as possible. Whether you're moving to a new home or office, these tips will help you get ready for the big day.

1. Plan Ahead

- Book your removal date as early as possible to secure availability, especially during busy periods like weekends or end-of-month.
- Notify utility companies, change your address with important organizations, and redirect your mail well in advance.
- Create a checklist of tasks to stay organized and track your progress.

2. Declutter Before Packing

- Take time to sort through your belongings. Donate, recycle, or dispose of items you no longer need.
- Remember, the fewer items you have to move, the quicker and easier the process will be.
- Use this opportunity to dispose of prohibited or hazardous materials that cannot be transported, such as paints, aerosols, or perishable goods.

3. Pack Smart

- Label Everything: Clearly mark boxes with their contents and the room they belong in. This will make unpacking much easier.
- Fragile Items: Use bubble wrap, newspaper, or towels to protect breakable items like glassware and electronics. Label these boxes as 'FRAGILE.'
- Heavy Items: Pack heavy items like books in smaller boxes to avoid making them too difficult to lift.
- Essential Items: Pack an essentials box with items you’ll need on your first day, such as toiletries, medications, chargers, and a change of clothes.

4. Furniture Preparation

- Dismantle Large Items: Where possible, disassemble large furniture like beds, wardrobes, or desks. Keep screws and fittings in labeled bags.
- Protect Furniture: Use blankets, bubble wrap, or moving pads to prevent scratches or dents.

5. Prepare Your New Property

- Make sure your new home or office is ready for the move.
- If possible, clean the space before your belongings arrive.
- Confirm that access is clear for the removal team, including parking and entryways.

6. Communicate with Your Removal Team

- Share any special instructions or concerns with us ahead of time, such as fragile items, oversized furniture, or specific access requirements.
- Be present on the day of the move or arrange for someone to supervise.

7. Take Care of Children and Pets

- Arrange childcare or pet care on moving day to reduce stress and ensure safety.
- If they’ll be at home, keep them in a safe and secure area away from the moving activity.

8. Be Ready on Moving Day

- Make sure everything is packed and ready to go before our team arrives.
- Have keys for your new property ready for a smooth handover.
